What is Sod?
What is sod? Itʼs a packaged lawn ready to install on top of your prepared soil. Sod comes in 10 square-foot rolls on pallets and big rolls for larger projects, and the weed control, fertilization, and careful watering has been done for you so you get a lawn that looks great from the moment the installation is complete. You still need to water your new lawn, but thatʼs about all you have to do to allow the grass to establish itself in its new location and root itself into your topsoil.
Growing sod is much more than just spreading grass seed! We test our soil to determine exactly what type of fertilizer is needed and how much to use. Then we use an herbicide to eliminate the weeds and undesirable grasses. Next we spread certified weed-free and disease-free seed, and we water the field frequently for several weeks to allow the seed to germinate and begin to grow. After 14 to 18 months of watering and precise mowing on a strict schedule, we are ready to harvest our premium-quality turfgrass sod and deliver it to your project.
